This memo assesses whether councils would need to make changes to wastewater treatment in addition to those already identified in the Boffa Miskell report Cost estimates for upgrading wastewater treatment plants to meet objectives of the NPS freshwater.
This is due to amendments to freshwater attributes within the NPS proposed as part of the Action for healthy waterways package. The memo concludes that some plants may require further upgrades if dilution in the receiving environment is not sufficient.
