New Zealand coastal water quality assessment update

We previously commissioned the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research to review what data is available for state of the environment reporting on coastal and estuarine waters and provide recommendations on monitoring and reporting variables. This report updates the state and trends of water quality of coastal and estuarine waters for physico-chemical (eg, pH), optical (eg clarity), nutrients (eg, nitrates), and microbiological parameters (eg, enterococci). This report includes brief methods used for data processing, trend analysis, and data presentation and a concise summary of national-scale trends.
