Representing the influence of dams on river flows

This report outlines the different potential approaches for characterising the pressure created by dams on the flow regime of rivers and streams. The report focuses on non-consumptive dams – those that take and return water at or close to the point of abstraction. The report analyses in-depth data from the Waitaki Dam in Canterbury, New Zealand to draw conclusions about each potential approach explored.
