This report by Cawthron collates and analyses regional council river and stream monitoring data, including measures of fine deposited sediment and habitat quality.
Data from deposited sediment monitoring programmes is used to analyse the percentage cover of deposited sediment in streams. Physical habitat condition in New Zealand waterways is assessed in this report using the Rapid Habitat Assessment (RHA) protocol. RHA produces a total habitat quality score which represents the overall state of stream habitat at a site scale.
Data is collated from regional councils and unitary authorities that had conducted deposited fine sediment and habitat quality assessments using standardised protocols developed in the past eight years.
