Figure 9.9 shows a map of the North Island of New Zealand in green with hill country pasture areas at risk of induced erosion highlighted in separate colours.  Risk is measured by degree including three categories and colours for elevation above 1000 metres and three categories and colours for risk according to the physical factors that control productive land uses.  Three additional smaller maps zoom in on areas identified in the North Island that are at risk of severe, very severe or extreme hill country erosion.  These areas are in the Gisborne, Taranaki, and Manawatu-Wanganui regions.
