Figure 9.10 shows a map of the South Island of New Zealand in green with hill country pasture areas at risk of induced erosion highlighted in separate colours.  Risk is measured by degree including three categories and colours for elevation above 1000 metres and three categories and colours for risk according to the physical factors that control productive land uses.  Two additional smaller maps zoom in on areas identified in the top of the South Island that are at risk of severe, very severe and extreme hill country. These areas are in the Tasman and Marlborough districts.
