Figure 1 helps to describe how the triangle distributions were fitted to the upper, lower and most likely projection for emissions by sector. The mode of the distribution (the top of the triangle) is set at the value for most likely emissions, the lower emissions scenario is fitted to the left hand corner of the triangle and the upper emissions scenario is fitted to the right hand corner of the triangle. The same method was applied to emissions removals by forest sinks with the triangle fitted to negative values and is shown on the negative side of the axis.
