Between 13 August and 21 September 2018, the Government consulted on a set of proposals to improve the framework of the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme (NZ ETS) which were presented in the consultation document Improvements to the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme. These proposals were part of an ongoing review of the NZ ETS following in-principle decisions made by the Government in 2017 to strengthen the scheme. Further proposals to improve the NZ ETS for forestry were included in this consultation, as presented in the document A better Emissions Trading Scheme for forestry.
This report provides a summary of submissions received on the proposals included in the consultation document Improvements to the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme only. A summary of submissions on forestry will be published by the Ministry for Primary Industries.
