Action on agricultural emissions: A discussion document on proposals to address greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture

Publication date:  July 2019
Publication reference number:  ME 1429

Tackling biological emissions from agriculture – which contribute nearly half of New Zealand’s total emissions – is vital to enable us to transition to a low-emissions and climate-resilient country.

The Government has carefully considered the recommendations of the Interim Climate Change Committee (ICCC) on reducing these emissions and developed proposed policies which will provide farmers with guidance and certainty on the way forward.

This discussion document outlines the ICCC recommendations and our proposals, and asks questions about them for your feedback.
