This report presents the findings of the State Service Commission's Performance Improvement Framework (PIF) follow-up review of the Ministry for the Environment.
The Performance Improvement Framework is a tool to help government agencies build on their strengths and identify priority areas for improvement. It looks at the current state of an agency, its work programme and organisational management, and how well placed it is to deal with the issues that will confront it in the future.
We participated in our first PIF review in 2012. Reviewers return after about 18 months to check on progress and if the agency's direction of travel in responding to the review is correct.
Our follow-up review found that our direction and progress since 2012 are on track and identified some areas requiring further attention.
