A collaborative approach to the management of fresh water, focused on practices to reduce erosion in the eastern hill country and the subsequent sediment that ends up in the Waitotara catchment. Interventions include physical works such as planting and fencing, the development of a Cultural Impact Assessment and Catchment Management Plan, as well as building capability and capacity through establishing a Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi Taiao Team.

“Transforming Taranaki” Project seeks to encourage and provide riparian fencing and planting in the Taranaki ring plan and coastal terrace. This will be achieved through alignment with riparian management plans, maintaining existing planting, engaging iwi and the community in freshwater improvement, and applying mātauranga Maori.
