Public Marketing Campaign
As part of the Recycling in Public Places Initiative, participating councils are expected to run a marketing campaign to promote the use of the recycling facilities by the public.
The Ministry encourages councils to be creative and develop ideas on which channels can best be used to promote the recycling facilities.
To ensure maximum and consistent exposure for the Love NZ – Recycle with care brand throughout the country, councils are required to make use of the campaign material that the Ministry will provide. Requests for additional campaign materials will need to be approved by the Ministry as well as design work that follows on from this.
The campaign materials have been developed to:
- provide brand recognition and information for the use of the bins
- present educational information to encourage recycling and the use of the bins
- provide councils with template guidance for specialty advertising (such as competitions).
The Ministry will provide advice to councils to develop and produce their marketing campaign. The criteria below clarify how funding is attached to the marketing campaign.
Requirements for the marketing campaign:
- Participating councils will make use of existing templates for marketing collateral as provided by the Ministry
- The Ministry for the Environment will pay for customising the templates to suit the needs of the participating council(s), as well as the costs for placement and printing
- The Ministry for the Environment will not pay for the design, placement or printing of marketing collateral that is not supplied or approved by the Ministry
- If new templates for additional marketing collateral are to be developed to suit the needs of participating councils, concepts for new templates will be developed in line with the look and feel of existing marketing collateral. The Ministry for the Environment has to sign-off on new collateral.
