Text description of image

The diagram shows various pieces of legislation, plans, strategies, and reports that influence environmental wellbeing at a local level and their relationships with Long Term Council Community Plans.

Legislation such as the Resource Management act, the Local Government Act, the Biosecurity Act, the Land Transport Act are implemented in part by local government. The Acts specify strategies and plans that councils develop and implement to meet the requirements of the Acts (such as regional policy statements and district plans, pest management strategies, and land transport strategies).

Community outcomes identified in the LTCCP and required under the LGA, will influence the future development of all council strategies and plans.

An integrated monitoring strategy should monitor and report all the above plans and strategies and progress towards community outcomes. This reporting informs future planning and outcome identification, completing the cycle.
