About the amendment Act
The Resource Management (Simplifying and Streamlining) Amendment Act 2009 (RMAA 2009) was introduced after the 2008 general election to streamline and shorten resource consent and nationally significant consent applications.
Reforms made by the RMAA 2009 include:
- sharpening how councils process resource consents
- setting up a system that allows nationally significant consent applications to be dealt with more quickly.
A series of nine fact sheets explaining the reforms are available on our website.
