This page reports on the number of iwi/hapū agreements local authorities had in place. 

About iwi/hapū agreements

Iwi/hapū agreements are written agreements between iwi/hapū and local authorities.

These agreements will often be either:

  • general agreements (often referred to as relationship agreements or charters)
  • detailed agreements specifically aimed at particular processes, such as resource consents (often referred to as memorandum of understanding, protocols or service contracts).

2014/15

  • 51 local authorities had entered into 117 iwi/hapū agreements (See Table 1 below).
  • 24 local authorities had not entered into any iwi/hapū agreements, while three local authorities did not have any data available (See Table 1 below).
