A called-in air discharge permit was granted by Minister Simon Upton for the Taranaki Combined Cycle Power Station in March 1995. This page outlines the key events and links to the final decision.
About the call-in
The Taranaki Combined Power Station was the first application to be called-in as a nationally significant proposal under the Resource Management Act 1991.
In 1993 Minister Simon Upton called-in the application for an air discharge permit and appointed a board of inquiry to make a recommendation.
The board's recommendation was that the permit should be granted subject to conditions. Minister Upton granted the permit on 12 March 1995 with revised conditions.
