Proposal and inquiry concerning national policy statement on electricity transmission

Section 48 Resource Management Act 1991.

The Minister for the Environment has prepared a proposed national policy statement on electricity transmission (the proposal).

The Minister has also appointed a Board of Inquiry to inquire into and report on the proposal.

The proposal sets out the objective and policies for managing the electricity transmission network under the Resource Management Act. The objective is to recognise the national significance of the electricity transmission network.

The proposal and an evaluation document may be inspected at www.mfe.govt.nz and at:

  • Level 6, Tower Centre, 45 Queen Street, Auckland 1010
  • Level 1, Environment House, 23 Kate Sheppard Place, Wellington
  • Level 7, Te Waipounamu House, 158 Hereford Street, Christchurch
  • Every regional and district council’s principal office.

Any person may make a submission on the proposal. You may do so by sending a written submission, in Form 3 of the Resource Management (Forms, Fees and Procedure) Regulations 2003, to the Board of Inquiry c/o PO Box 8270, Auckland 1150. Submission forms are available at the addresses above, from Jo Daly, and from the Ministry for the Environment website.

Submissions close at 5pm on 25 June 2007. Your submission should state whether you support or oppose the proposal. You should state any changes you want to the proposal. You should give reasons for your views. Your submission must state whether or not you wish to be heard on the submission.
