Central Wind windfarm resource consent application: all-of-government submission for lodging

Name of submitter: Trevor Mallard; Minister for the Environment

Submission on land use consent to establish, operate and maintain the Central Wind windfarm (Proposal P30 – 1299, Ruapehu District Council, and Land Use Consent RM080065, Rangitikei District Council) by Meridian Energy Limited.

I refer to the application by Meridian Energy Limited for land use consents, to establish maintain and operate a windfarm on the Volcanic Plateau in the Central North Island, New Zealand. 

Pursuant to Sections 96 and 141A(4)(c) of the Resource Management Act 1991, I wish to make the attached submission on behalf of the Crown.  This submission in support of the application was endorsed by the Cabinet Economic Development Committee on 6 August 2008 [EDC Min (08) 15/4].
