Transpower New Zealand Limited's requirements for designations and resource consents for an electricity transmission line in the upper North Island were confirmed and granted by a Board of Inquiry in September 2009.
Minister Pete Hodgson called in Transpower's proposal in August 2007 and appointed an independent Board of Inquiry to consider submissions on the proposal, to hold public hearings and to make a final decision on the proposal.
The Board’s chair was Judge David Sheppard, a former Principal Environment Judge. The other Board members are Kevin Prime, Dr Deborah Read and John Rutherford. See biographical information on the board members.
