Ref. ME783, November 2006

The Ministry for the Environment is proposing a national environmental standard to ensure the accurate and comprehensive measurement of water takes to facilitate the sustainable management of New Zealand’s water resource. It would do this by:

  • setting minimum requirements for all new water measuring devices that are installed, and
  • defining situations where water measuring devices are compulsory.

This discussion document, outlining the subject matter and rationale of the proposed standard, has been produced to assist people in making submissions.
