Case law on limits for freshwater quality and environmental flows
A report prepared by Simpson Grierson for the Ministry for the Environment

The report provides a review of case law and legal considerations relating to environmental flows and water measuring, and water quality limits.  A series of 21 questions were posed that were developed from three objectives:

  • How should objectives for freshwater quality and environmental flows be set?
  • How should those objectives be translated into something quantifiable?
  • How can it be ensured that those quantified limits are met?
