Appendix 1: Whiteware Collection and Processing Flow: Fisher & Paykel

In the Fisher & Paykel collection scheme, customers return their old appliances to Fisher & Paykel dealers, where they are picked up by a Fisher & Paykel truck and taken to a recycling plant. The units are disassembled, with the metal being recycled by SIMs, and the plastics by Astron.

Cardboard packaging from the new appliances is also recycled, that in good condition is reused, that in fair condition sold to second-hand carton dealers, and that in poor condition is recycled for paper reclaim.
