The diagram shows the lifecycle of a tyre.
Tyres are imported, either new, used, or on imported cars. Tyres are also manufactured in New Zealand.
Some of the tyres produced or shredded in New Zealand and are exported. Tyres are distributed by retailers. Tyres are disposed of by customers through retailers, through car wreckers or illegally dumped.
Tyre collectors will collect and dispose of end-of-life tyres for retreading, energy recovery, material recovery, civil works or to landfills.
