For High Intensity Discharge Lamps.

  1. Import and manufacture: overseas manufacture of lamps and luminaires, importer/distributor and NZ manufacture of luminaires.

Key pathways are from the overseas manufacture of lamps and luminiares to the importer/distributor and NZ manufacture of luminaires and from the importer/distributor to the electrical wholesalers.

  1. Distribution and sale: developers, retail, electrical wholesalers and internet sales.

The electrical wholesalers link to the electrical contractors, maintenance contractors and in-house electricians.

  1. Installation: householder/DIYer, small commercial, electrical contractors, maintenance contractors and in-house electricians.

The electrical contractors link to all the ‘use’ stakeholders below, however, most strongly with industrial buildings and public lighting. Maintenance contractors and in-house electricians also link to industrial buildings and public lighting.

  1. Use: residential buildings, small commercial, specialist lighting plus the following key account customers; retail buildings, office buildings, public buildings, industrial buildings and public lighting.

For industrial buildings the predominant life cycle pathway is to the de-installation electrical contractors, maintenance contractors and in-house electricians but for public lighting it is to the de-installation electrical contractors only.

  1. De-installation: householders, small commercial, demolition contractors, electrical contractors, maintenance contractors and in-house electricians.

The de-installation electrical contractors, maintenance contractors and in-house electricians link predominantly to landfill rather than recycling commercial.

  1. End-of-life: landfill, recycling public, recycling commercial.
