5 Foundation for Research, Science and Technology (FRST) Funded Research

This table outlines the urban design research currently being funded from Vote RS&T through the Foundation for Research Science and Technology. The criteria for deciding whether research was defined as urban design is based on the following categories of urban design research as defined in the Ministry for the Environment's Urban Design Protocol:

  • sustainability
  • transport
  • housing-related
  • stormwater and waste management
  • health-related
  • low-impact design
  • energy-efficiency
  • other.

Urban design research funded by the Foundation totals approximately $14 million and spans three Foundation portfolios; Sustainable Communities; Resilient Infrastructure and Communities; and Network Services and Utilities. Further information on Foundation funded research can be found at www.frst.govt.nz. Contract level information can be found by clicking the Research Abstracts and Databases button on the Foundation homepage and searching the Infrastructure Services or Human Environments output classes. The bracketed codes for each programme under the lead provider column of this table are the Foundation contract codes used in the research database.
