Urban Design Case Studies: Local Government

May 2008, Ref. ME879

The New Zealand Urban Design Protocol was launched in 2005 to support towns and citites in providing quality urban design.  That year, 16 case studies were published to demonstrate the urban design qualities outlined in the Protocol.

This second volume of case studies provides examples of ways that local government can incorporate quality urban design in strategies, plans and guidelines.  It also includes example of best practice development projects from throughout New Zealand.

The case studies demonstrate the practical application of urban design principles, highlight the benefits that come from good practice, and identify areas where further improvements can be made.
