Main Areas of Achievement

  • Reduced energy use compared to traditional mail-sorting centres.

  • Improved day lighting and internal air quality.

  • Reduced water consumption through using efficient fixtures and fittings, and rainwater harvesting.

A matrix has been developed to analyse over 100 areas of potential sustainable features based on appropriateness, practicality, costs, benefits and philosophical β€˜fit’.

The building was modelled to determine the benefits and paybacks of insulation levels.
