This figure shows the distribution of catchments by percentage allocation of mean annual low flow. A range of percentage allocated of mean annual flow exists in both the North and South Island. Areas of high allocation, twenty to fifty percent, occur in the Hawkes Bay, Wellington, Nelson, Canterbury and Otago regions.
