This figure shows lakes, dams and surface water consents on a map of New Zealand. The map also displays the regional boundaries. The lake consents occur predominantly in the Auckland, Waikato, Wellington, Canterbury and Otago Regions. The dam consents are concentrated in the Northland, Auckland and Tasman Regions. The surface water consents are distributed throughout the country but feature more heavily on the East Coast of the South Island, in particular Canterbury and Otago.
