Contains biological data (including length frequency, weight, gonad stage etc) and non-fish bycatch data collected by Scientific Observers on commercial vessels. Collection of non-fish bycatch data commenced in 1994 (prior to this, seals were the only non-fish bycatch recorded).

Most of the data are from trawling operations. However, since 1993, data from observers on longline vessels fishing in the Kermadec FMA exploratory research programme have been included on the database.

The database holds data for the major species including hoki, orange roughy, southern blue whiting, oreos, jack mackerels, blue mackerel, hake, barracouta, bass, ling, warehou, stargazers, spiny dogfish, scampi, and gemfish. Smaller amounts of data are available for a variety of other species.
