Disclaimer

This Report has been prepared for the Ministry for the Environment to assist with the implementation of the Environmental Performance Indicators Programme. It has been compiled from available published documentation and information provided by the proponents and users of each classification system and spatial framework.

The information in this report was up to date as at September 1999. While several entires were updated in 2002, most entries have not been fully reviewed since 1999. There may be changes that have been made since then that are not recorded. In addition, several more recent classification systems have been developed (eg. the New Zealand Threat Classification System) but not yet included in this document.

The classification systems and spatial frameworks that have been reviewed and presented within Part 2 of this Report do not represent all of the New Zealand and international classification systems which presently exist, or are being developed. Rather, the review has focused on those classification systems and spatial frameworks which are relevant to Environmental Performance Indicators for land, water, terrestrial biodiversity and freshwater biodiversity.

Ruth Ann Beanland (Planning and Resource Management Consultant) and Victoria Ann Froude (PACIFIC ECO-LOGIC) do not accept liability for the results of any actions taken or not taken based on information in this Report.
