New Zealand lakes colour-coded according to PAC trend (7 categories covering the range 'definite improvement' to 'definite deterioration'). About half of the lakes show no signs of change while the remainder show approximately equal numbers of improving and deteriorating trends. Higher proportion of North Island lakes show signs of change and lakes showing probable or definite deterioration are all in the Bay of Plenty (Rotorua) and Waikato regions (with the exception of Lake Brunner on the West Coast of the South Island).
