  • 1,816,580 hectares from within Southland
  • 7,270 hectares imported from other regions within New Zealand
  • 71,210 hectares imported from other nations.

Household consumption in Southland (the ecological footprint) has embodied land of:

  • 320,190 hectares from Intermediate Demand
  • 20,740 hectares from within Southland
  • 3,040 hectares imported from other regions within New Zealand
  • 31,340 hectares imported from other nations.

Southland is exporting:

  • 350,760 hectares of embodied land to other regions within New Zealand
  • 1,224,110 hectares of embodied land to other nations.
