New Zealand Coastal Policy Statement

In 1994, the Minister of Conservation released the New Zealand Coastal Policy Statement.

It contains policies that guide coastal management throughout New Zealand.The New Zealand Coastal Policy Statement sets out several policies and statements that are directly relevant to Maori (see Appendix 2).

Note: Regional coastal plans must be consistent with the New Zealand Coastal Policy Statement (see Regional coastal plans).
