is not as sudden as massacre, but it is more deadly in the long run

“To promote a full understanding of the Hazardous Facility Screening Procedure, and its use as a planning tool for hazardous facilities under the Resource Management Act 1991”.
Note: for this training workshop, we will refer to the Resource Management Act 1991 as “RMA”, to the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 as “the HSNO Act” and to the “Hazardous Facility Screening Procedure” as the HFSP.
Our focus in this training workshop will be on managing hazardous substances in the context of the RMA, with specific focus on the HFSP and linkages to the HSNO Act. We will provide a detailed background on the HFSP, how it works, and practice its use and implementation based on practical examples.
We will also focus on what happens if a resource consent is required for a hazardous facility, and a more detailed assessment of the environmental effects and risks needs to be carried out.
For an overview of the course content, refer to the front of this manual.
This workshop will be carried out in an interactive manner, with plenty of group exercises and discussions.
