After the closing date for receiving submissions, council officers create a summary of decisions requested by submitters. This contains a description of all the submissions that have been made and the reasons for them.
The council will let you know when and where the summary of submissions is available for you to look at.
It is important to consider other submissions as people may seek changes to the proposed plan, plan change or variation that will affect you in a way not mentioned in the original document. When you read the summary of submissions, you may see some that you agree or disagree with. The RMA allows you to make a submission supporting or opposing these submissions. This is called making a further submission (also known as a cross submission).
If you think that an original submitter's requests, if agreed to by the council, would change what you like about your neighbourhood, you might want to make a further submission that lets the council know what you feel about an original submitter's proposal.
Anyone can make a further submission on a proposed plan, plan change or variation. You don't have to have made an original submission.
