April 2008, Ref. ME850
Under the RMA, regional and district councils have to monitor and respond to complaints about activities that people feel are negatively affecting the local environment. When necessary, they can take ‘enforcement action’ if they think the RMA, a resource consent or their own district/regional plans are not being complied with.
This guide is for people who may be concerned about an activity and want enforcement action taken. It will also be helpful for those who are subject to enforcement action.
This guide is part of the An Everyday Guide to the Resource Management Act Series.
