This graph illustrates the relationship between supply and demand for renewable energy. Whereas the supply curve slopes upward, the demand curve for renewables is horizontal, based on the price of alternative fuel supplies. The impacts of a CO2 charge are illustrated as an upward shift of the horizontal demand curve, resulting in an increase in the quantity of renewable energy supplied at the expense of fossil fuels.
