Figure 5 shows the projected annual emissions for 2010 from waste and the inventory timeseries of emissions from the waste sector. The waste graph is different to all other graphs. Emissions have declined from the 2.5Mt reported in 1990 to approximately 1.7Mt in 2003. The slope of the line is greatest from 1990 to 2000 but levels out from 2000 to 2003. The value projected for 2010 is 1.1Mt.
