A graph showing annual mean temperature in New Zealand (shown as a deviation in °C from 1961 - 1990 climatology) which has been plotted from 1920 through until 2000. A smooth curve superimposed on the same graph illustrates the long-term upwards trend in New Zealand temperature over that period of about 0.7 degrees Celsius. Year-to-year temperature variations are up to about 1 degree Celsius.
