National Inventory Report: 1990-2003
New Zealand Greenhouse Gas Inventory 1990-2003 (including the Common Reporting Format (CRF) for 2003).
Only emissions of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons and sulphur hexafluoride are included in New Zealand's total emissions figures. Emissions of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide totalled 99.3% of total emissions in 2003. To compare and total all the emissions from different gases, a Global Warming Potential (GWP) is used to convert all gases back to the equivalent warming effect of carbon dioxide. The GWP's are based on analysis by the IPCC and agreed to by parties to the UNFCCC.
