It shows that the changes over the next 100 years will be more rapid than any natural climate variations experienced in the past.

This figure presents historic and projected temperature trends. The graph shows both the observed historic temperature range, and the average, for the past 1,000 years. The projected future temperature rise can be compared with the temperatures over the past 1,000 years or more, deduced from tree rings, corals, ice cores and bore holes. It shows that changes over the next 100 years are projected to be more rapid than any natural climate variations experienced in the past.
