The newsletter keeps you up to date on the regulations-making process for allocating emissions unit (NZUs) to businesses under the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme (NZ ETS).
We are processing applications, as they are submitted, and have started issuing 2010 provisional allocations of NZUs to companies carrying out group one activities. So far the key lessons we can share with you are:
Applications for industrial allocation for the third group of eligible industrial activities (“group three activities”) open on 23 September 2010. The activities are:
The deadline for provisional allocations for these activities is 23 December 2010.
To be considered for 2010 provisional allocation, eligible firms (those involved in the above activities) undertaking any of the group three activities must submit an online application form by 23 December 2010. The form can be accessed from the climate change website – go to industrial allocation.
Applications for a provisional allocation of group one activities under the ETS close on Friday 8 October 2010. There are no provisions within the legislation to accept late provisional applications.
