This publication gives guidance for corporations on voluntary greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting, including emission factors. It is intended to help those corporates that wish to voluntarily monitor and report greenhouse gas emissions on an organisational basis for their New Zealand operations.
It aims to encourage best practice in GHG monitoring, reporting and to support voluntary GHG reporting initiatives. Its purpose is to endorse the referenced reporting frameworks and to provide information (emission factors and methodology) to enable organisations to apply them.
This is the third version of an annual publication. Each year the Ministry for the Environment updates this guide with emission factors for the previous calendar year. It does not replace previous editions of this publication. This guidance document has been produced for the 2006 and 2007 calendar years previously. This guidance document is updated annually to maintain consistency with international best practice and the New Zealand government’s national greenhouse gas inventory reporting.
The emission factors and methods contained within the guidance document are provided for emission sources deemed common for commercial organisations; however the guidance document is also applicable to industrial organisations who wish to report on the same emission sources.
Each year the Ministry for the Environment will update this guidance document with emission factors for the previous calendar year. It does not replace previous editions of this publication.
