This figure shows the projected percentage changes in seasonal precipitation for the 2030's relative to 1990, for the middle of the IPCC range of scenarios. For spring, summer and autumn, the projected changes in rainfall over New Zealand are mostly within the plus or minus zero to five percent range, with western areas wetter than eastern regions. For winter western areas of both islands show up to 20 percent more precipitation, while eastern districts show mostly small decreases in rainfall.
