Text description of figure

Coastal erosion and accretion 'hotspots' around New Zealand were last mapped by Gibb (1984). The occurrence of erosion and accretion is highly variable around both the North and South Islands. While the Fiordland and Northland coastlines are static, at other locations shoreline movement can be occurring at rates of up to and exceeding 8 metres per year in either direction.
