The Government is taking steps to prepare for the impacts of climate change so New Zealand is resilient, less susceptible to the impacts, and in a position to take advantage of the opportunities that may be presented to us.

This document helps create a broader understanding of New Zealand’s framework for adapting to climate change and details four areas: information, responsibilities, investment and action.

Although the impacts are already becoming evident, we still have time to adapt to a changing climate. Adaptation is a long-term process and we will regularly review our approach and initiatives in light of new science and as the impacts of climate change on New Zealand become clearer.
