Figure 5.1 shows how the mixing height varies diurnally each day. On day one the mixing height is below 100 m until midday at which point it rises to 1,000 m above ground level by 5 pm before dropping rapidly back to less than 100 m by 8 pm. Day two shows a similar variance.
