Map of New Zealand showing the air visibility risk index in different areas. Most of New Zealand has an index value of 1-5, except for

  • A value of 0-1 in Coromandel, Wairarapa, Kaikoura, Westland, and some parts of south Canterbury and Otago.
  • A value of 5-25 in Bay of Islands, North Auckland, South Auckland, parts of the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, the Volcanic Plateau, the Hawke’s Bay, Wellington (including Hutt Valley), Marlborough, some parts of south Canterbury, and the area around Dunedin.
  • A value of 25-125 in Central Auckland and Christchurch.
