  • Environmental policy advice
  • Monitoring the state of the environment
  • Promoting effective management of natural resources
  • Air quality
  • Water quality and allocation (rivers, lakes, groundwater, coastal water and geothermal water)
  • Land management
  • Genetic modification
  • Protecting and enhancing biodiversity, especially on private land
  • Preventing and minimising pollution and managing waste
  • Protection of the ozone layer
  • Promoting environmental awareness and action
