Main Policy Responsibilities
- Environmental policy advice
- Monitoring the state of the environment
- Promoting effective management of natural resources
- Air quality
- Water quality and allocation (rivers, lakes, groundwater, coastal
water and geothermal water)
- Land management
- Genetic modification
- Protecting and enhancing biodiversity, especially on private land
- Preventing and minimising pollution and managing waste
- Protection of the ozone layer
- Promoting environmental awareness and action
